It’s important to understand that you need different language knowledge levels for communication with a waiter in a foreign restaurant and a foreign partner. You shouldn’t rely on Google if a foreign language is not your cup of tea. You can loose much more if you saved on a professional translator.
Here is the list of cases when Google Translate cannot help, and you should contact a translation company:
- Translation for business: business correspondence, agreements, contracts;
- Interpretation at negotiations and business meetings;
- For websites and marketing materials translation, you need localization by a professional team;
- Field-specific texts translation.
In order to choose a translation vendor:
- Verify translation quality — order test translation of a text fragment by several translators.
- Ask the stages of the process that translation consists of. You will immediately see whether it is a professional company or a group of freelancers.
- Ask the vendor about team organization: who selects it, what is the principle, who is involved in the work besides translators etc.
- Ask to provide an approximate query of your order. Finally, rate if it matches your impressions of a translation company.
